Another day, another challenge... this time, we're into the Darks. For those who are visiting my blog for the first time, please check out this post for the challenge :)
What do you think of my pressed flowers?
Honestly, dark colored nail polishes intimidates me... as you can tell, I have quite a difficulty working with it.. my cuticles are having a rough time on this one, lol...
I started with +REVLON Japan Parfumerie Scented Nail Polish in Wild Violets. The scent is tantalizing, I love it! Elegant, floral, fresh? I can't describe it but it was very pleasant. Scented polishes is growing on me... mind you, this is only the second one I've tried and I like them both. (The first one is Winter Mint) How lovely is the color though? I mean, I wouldn't wear it normally, but I love the hint of purple in it and the shine, oh my!
I can't judge the formula and the application as I always had a hard time with dark polishes.
"I learned that courage was not the absence of fear,
but the triumph over it.
The brave man is not he who does not feel afraid,
but he who conquers that fear."
Here's a photo of the little pretty flowers that I pressed. These white little treasures where so pretty to begin with. It was already a little wilted by the time I arrived home but I managed to spread some of the petals for a full bloom. I left the tiny stems on them. But next time I do this, it's better to cut them off as they are difficult to work with during application on the nails. They are stiff so they stick out on the nail.
I really loved the effect on the nails. It's so beautiful! I used a clear polish to stick them into. One mistake, I was using a fast dry topcoat. I spread it all over the nails and was arranging the flowers into it. Big mistake, the topcoat dries out even before I finish working on the flowers. In the end, my mani became too thick. Well, we're learning...
And here's the mani after the topcoat. I added an extra layer to protect it from water damage and make it last longer. Even after the top coat, the flowers still looked very pretty. But can you see the little stems sticking out. I cut some of it using a cuticle nipper but the others are hard to cut... so... better cut them before sticking them there next time.
It's very pretty, I tell you...
I washed my hands to put it to the test. And here's a photo of the nails after the second hand-washing... It resisted water damage! Yay! I'm totally in love with this combo: Scented Polish and Pretty Pressed Flowers. Try it! It's surely a delight! xoxo Maya
