Outdoor Mani with Flowers and Seashells | OMD2 Theme: Outdoors (Flashback Friday)

Ah, How I do love the summer heat... The sun is shining, the flowers are in bloom, the ocean feels warmer... people look happier.

Hubby and I took a very nice walk on Sunday evening.  I was a little worried that we went out late and that the sun would soon be gone.  Alas, it was 9:30 at night when it started to go down.  No beautiful sunset that night, too cloudy.  Yet, it was great.  I was able to snap some pictures of beautiful flowers along the way, we chatted with some friends, relaxed on the sand... and collected clams.  Yup, not just seashells, live ones!!!

Flowers abound, beauty is everywhere.  The salty breeze touches my skin.  When I close my eyes, I am immediately in bliss with calmness and memories of my dear beaches in the Philippines, content that though I am far from my birthplace, my hands are held by the one I love.
Like a Kite, I'm free to soar.
Yet grounded with the stability of love and a happy home.
Ah, that warm, sandy wind reminds me of loved ones, the salty air makes me breathe their presence again. And my love's hands let me know "I am never too far away from home".

I whipped up this mani a few minutes before we left home for the beach, I actually finished it in the car so it's a simple swatch of a yellow textured polish.   The sandy texture is very appropriate for the shores. I wouldn't want to miss a good mani-photo-op, just in case, right?  But, no I did not take photos by the beach, afraid of my camera catching sand (Oh well, next time. Hopefully there are more chances of going there this summer).  Good thing, yellow flowers aren't difficult to find.  What beauty and happiness it exudes!

We were content at walking about, laying on the sand or hunting for these clams.  A reminder of childhood when we used to walk by the rocky banks of the river to hunt for seashells.  But I've never seen edible-shells as huge as these.  Some of them bigger than my fist!  (Now, I will have to consult Chef Google on how to prepare these ones for a wonderful dinner, lol.  Any ideas?)

We got home tired but refreshed. I added some decorations the next day to remember the beautiful day that went by...

On the nails, I have "Sand in my shoe" textured polish from +Nicole by OPI.
I added some seashell studs, crushed shells and pearls for decoration all from +eBay  I applied no basecoat nor topcoat on this mani.  Afterall the sand-digging and searching for clams, this mani held up pretty well!  No question about it lasting on your nails. I just wonder about removal... ha ha!

T'was such a wonderful time... The days of summer go by so fast like trickling sand in the hands of time. I never thought I would miss summer.  Now I always dread it's departure.  I have never dreaded winter before. Too soon to think about that at least.  There's still many opportunities to enjoy the warmth, the sun and the beach... Winter has it's beauty too ~ we get to stay indoors much and do nails, lol. Actually, I just got me a sewing machine! (Yeah, that's a totally related idea... ha ha.)

As another weekend approaches, hopefully, more adventures would be experienced.
I hope you dolls are doing well today, and that you will have a great weekend! Would you spend some time outdoors today?  I wish you lots of love and happiness...

xoxo Maya

  1. Wow, what a beautiful post! I love reading about your beach and summer sentiments and nostalgia. We can still enjoy the summer while it lasts. Your nail arts are truly amazing, but I just remain an admirer since I just wear natural polish with subtle glitters. Not all the time, though, lol.

    1. Thanks for leaving a reply ate Charlene ;) I appreciate it... I really enjoy the beach and the heat, parang Pilipinas... I don't know how it would be received, being sentimental on a nail art/beauty blog... pero inspiring naman yung flowers and the beach... kaya eto, pasenti-senti kung minsan, he he he... Maganda ang simple lang na mani talaga... These designs, i really enjoy pero hindi pang-service or pang-mtgs... pang-dito lang sa blog at instagram... baka sumikat, lam mo na, he he... Thank ulit ate hah? comment ka ulit when you have time, ;) Ingats..... love yah!
