My Pretty Namesake | Featuring Maya and Dakota from Julep

"Peachy pink seashell, like a shimmering pearl."
- That is how Julep describes "Maya"
On my nails, I have "Maya" painted on 4 of my fingers and "Dakota" on my ring finger.
I was very excited to try to color.  Well, as you know... It's a bit of a name-sake (uhumm ;)
What do you think of these colors?

As you may have noticed on the above photo, I put that to the test and conclude "I quite agree." :)
This polish color really complements the colors on the sea shell.
"Dakota" (on my ring finger) is described as "Rose gold, metallic chrome" while "Maya" is "Shimmering frost pearl."
Frankly, I think that both have chrome finishes, although Dakota has better application than that of Maya.  The latter was streaky and it was quite hard to make it smooth looking.  If it was, it would almost be like satin ;) Dakota on the other hand applied smoothly and was opaque on the first coat.

I applied two coats of each polish and finished with Freedom Polymer Topcoat.  I like this top coat a lot.  So much so, I have four bottles in stock!  It provides a nice gloss to the polish.  Up until now, it helped my manicure lasts up to a week without chipping.  There is of course some wear on the tips.  Until now I say... for some reason, it did not work well with Maya.  Starting on the third day, the polish began to lift off and tear like old paint on a wall.  It worked better with Dakota.  Though Maya was chipping all around my nail bed, Dakota remained in good shape on the 4th day.  I don't know if using three coats for Maya would have been wiser.  Two coats for Dakota was enough.  Overall, I am quite pleased with the color and finish for both Maya and Dakota.  I wish though that Maya would have applied a little better (less streaky I mean.  I'm still stuck on the satin-like beauty.)

Here was my set-up today for polishing my nails... The weather was nice... so sunny and yet temperate.  It was just perfect.  After work, I made myself some nice tea and thought of writing a journal entry.  I chose two complementing colors first with my topcoat {and yes, base coat} so that I could let my nails dry while reflecting on my day.  What is your favorite thing to do at the end of a hard day's work?

  1. Thank you very much. Unfortunately, I have no idea as to how to fix compatibility problems. I do have readers who do say, my blog doesn't open well on their browser and they are unable to leave comments. I assume, I am running into the same problems as you are. Hopefully, we'll find a way to resolve that soon to get more readership ;-)

  4. Superb blog! Do you have any tips and hints for aspiring writers?
I'm planning to start my own website soon but I'm a little lost on everything.
Would you recommend starting with a free platform like Wordpress or go for
a paid option? There are so many choices out there that I'm completely overwhelmed ..
    Any suggestions? Thanks!
