Attempting to be a Seamstress and NOTD :)

Today, I attempted to match my Outfit of the Day (OOTD) with my Nails of the Day (NOTD)...  It wasn't that long ago that I learned what these letters meant... Ha ha, bit behind huh?

Here is my simple yet lovely mani.  It's called "Orchid Splash" from Avon.  It's one of the cheaper polishes out there but I do like the quality of these very much.  It has good opacity.  I used two coats of Orchid Splash on this particular mani, although sometimes one coat is enough.  Depending on how rough I am with my fingers, this polish can be pretty durable too :)

Isn't this pastel purple just lovely?  It can really brighten a gloomy, rainy day if you ask me.  I also got kind complements on my quartz floral ring that I also got from Avon. :)

I opted for a simple mani this time.  My floral dress is already a very busy floral, whew... so I thought a simple swatch of polish would be enough... would actually be pretty.  Agree? (or not? :-))

This dress is one of my early sewing projects.  When I saw the fabric at the store, I instantly fell in love with it.  I used several dress patterns and kind-of mixed-and-matched them to achieve this dress.  I wanted to put a lining to it but the pink fabric was a lot cheaper than a good quality lining.  Just as well, it actually added some character to it.

Maybe one day, I would be able to do a nail art design just like this one... I think it is just so pretty... Well, if you already designed one, please do share it with me on Instagram or Facebook (links on the blog heading :)

During the day, I accompanied a friend to visit a lady whom she thought came from the same country as me.  She was right... I was rewarded with a new friend and some yummy food...  This is a popular Filipino appetizer (or an afternoon snack).  The thin ones are made of meat ("lumpiang shanghai") and the thicker ones are made of vegetables (spring rolls - "lumpia").

I hope you enjoyed my blog of the day... I know it's not all polish related... How about you, what other things do you like to do {besides nail art}?  Please share below...  I surely want to know them.  I'll be looking forward to your comments :)

Have a great day!

Yellows and Florals (Pure Ice Nail Polish)

Some pretty and bright colors for you today...
Can you tell I am quite hopeful of spring?  I wish that tomorrow the sun would finally show us mercy and drive all the snow away...  That finally spring will be here and let the blossoms grow.  In the meantime,... well, let's enjoy some cute, pastel-colored mini-cupcakes while we enjoy a yellow-floral-mani.  Shall we?

Flowers, flowers, flowers.... awaiting spring...
I used Pure Ice "Show Stopper"... what a lovely bright yellow indeed...  It glistens in the light, yet it is subtly bright in the shade.  I thought it is just perfect.  Some gold striping tape for some elegance and style... and a mix of complimenting shades for some rosettes on the accent-nail.

The rosettes looks very elegant and they are surprising easy to do...  One of these days I may post a tutorial ;)  These flowers always gets me feel-good complements from friends ;)

So, what do you think of this color?  Have you tried this polish before?  How did you like it?

Would you like a cupcake? :)

Please leave your comments below.
I sincerely hope that you have a great day...

Welcome to Winter Wonderland (Practicing Left Hand Painting)

Hello Bellas!  Happy Monday...

I hope that you had a refreshing weekend and that you are ready to set-sail for yet another week..

Here are some lovely blue-glitter mani for you.  These were done in the last week of March.  Then I hoped it'll be the last snow of the season... but then, you know?...

Here is Revlon's "Whimsical".  I thought that it really fitted the stormy weather we had that day.  The blue color is quite serene, just like the fluffy snow falling so slowly.  And the glitters are so bright and calming just like the glistening snow being carried hither-thither by the wind.  For a busy lady who loves to shine, here is a great way to have instant-nailart. Two coats and then your glam-ready :)

Revlon's Whimsical - 2 coats

I attempted painting some cherry blossoms on my left hand.  I thought the flowers are a call for spring, lol... kind of a "sprinter" effect - Spring and Winter combined.  In my part of Canada, we are surely having a lot of this sprinter right now.  For a confused weather, I bring you a confused nail art, hehehe...

Happy Winter Day!

Painting is very intimidating.  I have some challenges doing it with my dominant hand. Much more so doing it with my non-dominant hand.  But we won't know what would come out of it unless we try, right?

Here you go then, using a fine brush and globs of nail-polish, I was able to do this on my right-hand (using my left, non-dominant hand).  :D  What do you think?  Yay or nay?

Snow and Tulips

How about you, what intimidates you most?  What are you willing to do in order to overcome your fears?  Please comment below :)

Have a lovely week ahead of you my dear pretty ladies and friends!

"Sand Dolla Make You Holla" ~ Pretty In Pink, Hearts Nail Art Design

China Glaze: "Naked" and "Sand Dolla Make You Holla"

My first China Glaze polishes. Wahoo!  And by the way, my first time using textured polish as well.

I combined "Naked" the nice, girly pink and "Sand Dolla Make You Holla" textured polish from the Sea Goddess collection, the creamy white, light glitter polish.  Combined some iridescent heart glitters and white flowers to complete a dainty, pretty-in-pink design.

It is recommended not to use topcoat on the textured polish to preserve it's nature.  Since I added the heart glitter pieces however, i needed something to make it stick and make it stable.  So I added two coats of topcoat.  {The textured polish kind-off intimidated me as well, not quite used with a grainy feel on my nails yet.  This is another reason :D) But everything turned out pretty, so I'm not complaining :)

I think it looks very well with one of my favorite mugs too :)

What do you think about this design?
Would love to hear your thoughts, please leave a comment below :)

Pure Ice Polishes

"I had to get me a new pair of boots... at least a pair of good boots."  I lamented a few weeks ago, when we still had mountain-full of snow everywhere you turn.  It was a day when the forecast was yet another ice-storm...  "Probably a nice jigsaw puzzle to keep my mind off the miserable weather we've been having.  It'll keep us busy just in case the power goes out."   So it was, we headed for the store... All the necessities had been bought and more!

On my way to the cash, I spotted these bottle of gems.  I've seen them online many times before and what great designs our polish-ladies had been doing with them.  The price was a steal.  "What a great sale!"  I thought.  Each bottle was a $1.97... Needless to say, I grabbed a few...

And then, I saw a photo opportunity... Couldn't resist...

Excited to try them of course... Let's begin with "China Girl"

This finish is so beautiful!  My! It takes skill to apply this one on evenly and smoothly.  It looks like Satin... yes, that silky soft fabric that almost glides on your skin - a pair of pj's in this material and a sheet would make a really luxurious sleep (I bet).  I had some streaks the first time I applied it.  I had to try again as this color and finish was too hard to resist...  Efforts were rewarded with this elegantly fancy manicure.

As they say, "you can't beat them, join them.."  Thanks for this "Pure Ice" polish, I was inspired to take some photos outside with the ice.  The cold was getting to me already and I'm wishing all the snow would melt away soon.  I was quite pleased with how the photos turned out.  For a change, I did not mind the snow at all... Not until the next day.. ha ha...

So, what do you think of this mani?  Have you tried Pure Ice before?  Please comment your thoughts below...

Hmm, let's see what I'm going to try next... ;)
