"How sweet it is to be loved by you..."
I sing this happy tune while I think about summer with its bright, cheerful and clear days that are so beautiful I wish they would never end. How lovely are the skies as a background for these sweet, sweet roses huh? I placed some of the roses in a small vase and I carried them around the house with me in a tray along with my tea.
"Life is not measured by how many breaths we take,
but by the moments that take our breath away."
This Royal Albert tea cup is the very beginning of my tea cup addiction, I mean collection.
Hubby bought it for me from Ebay almost seven years ago. He chose this, he said, because it's yellow and that's my fave color. He's got taste, don't you think?
I was so delighted I asked him to "please, please," get me another one. I convinced him I need a tea-for-two, at least. For how sad a tea-for-one would be? {Sadder if I'm the only one drinking on an English tea cup, lol.} For a while, I had a huge, beautiful hutch and buffet with only a single tea cup and a glass tea pot inside it. Well, it did have some fabrics too waiting to be sewn. He took pity on me and taught me instead to bid and purchase from the site. I learned quickly and I got hooked (oh no!) Now my hutch and buffet is teeming with tea cups... Big mistake, haha! (Just kidding. Hubby is ever generous and kind and I should take care not to abuse him. But don't tell, hehehe)

Imagination will take your everywhere."

~Albert Einstein
My first purchase was a lot of 5 tea cups and saucers, (I looked for the lot I like then placed my first bid. I watched it like a hawk... I was literally at the edge of my seat, the first time I was in Ebay.) I don't remember which of my tea cups came from that first lot anymore except for this pretty blue with lots of gold overlay. This one made a good impression on me as, you know, it was my first Ebay purchase.... ever!

nobody can take it away from you."

My roses bloomed beautifully. I had roses die on me on the third day when the store promised it should last up to ten days. Determined to make these roses last longer, I had a tiny spray bottle and I sprayed the flowers and leaves with fresh cool water every evening and early morning. I think it worked :-)

A Royal Albert sugar-and-cream from my hubby's grand mother. She was trying to declutter and it was my pleasure to take her clutter away from her. She and grand father are celebrating their 66th wedding anniversary. "No party! No gifts! What would I do with those gifts? Give them to you?" she says one day as I was helping her clean their apartment. "Oh yes please," was my teasing yet very glad reply. We had a family supper and they got edible gifts :-)

it's what you are."

The sweetest things are gifts from very thoughtful friends. I call this tea cup "Michelle My Belle" after the friend who gifted it to me. Ain't it pretty?

Your tea cups are so pretty and I love the quotes. I will write a few of these down in my journal today. The one I think of after reading your post, " To get the full value of a joy, you must have somebody to divide it with!" Mark Twain

DeleteBeautiful teacups. I wish I had the same enthusiasm about teacups like you. But if I'd start collecting, we have no space anymore in our little kitchen, hehehe....
ReplyDeleteI love the quotes you inserted here, the roses and your photos, of course!
Great post!
Hehehe, oo nga ate. Sa totoo lang, nagiging clutter din sila after a time. Buti nalang nagkaroon sila ng munting layunin noong makita ko itong mga tea-cup link-ups, hehehe. Salamat sa pagtitiyaga mo sa mga post ko te ha.

You have a beautiful collection of china tea cups.
ReplyDeleteSuch pretty teacups! My favourites are the light blue/green teacups with gold filigree designs. Many of the teacups in my collection were also passed on to me because they were being decluttered. I was more than happy to give them a new home. Hee!
ReplyDeleteHehehe, Yes, pleasure indeed to give these beauties a new home :-)
DeleteThanks for the visit, Maya. The white teacup you were asking about was a teabag holder that was gifted to me by a friend a few years back.
DeleteWhat a lovely collection! I do love teacups...I guess I'm a teacupaholic!
ReplyDeleteRuth

ReplyDeleteA beautiful display of gorgeous roses and the teacups are exquisite.
ReplyDeleteYour roses are a pretty colour and a nice addition to tea for one - or two! I have never tried for anything on eBay, at least you had your husband to teach you but I have bought from Etsy of fellow bloggers.
ReplyDeleteIt doesn't take long for a collection of teacups to grow and when I was in the Royal Doulton store yesterday I wanted to buy a boxed set of older patterns but...I came home with only a pretty tea caddy.
Thanks for linked to Mosaic Monday Maya.
I loved reading your quotes. You have some pretty teacups and the roses look lovely. I'm visiting from Tea in the Garden and Mosaic Monday.

Thank you so much Christine! I'm glad to be a part of your link party. There's so many good stuff in there ;-)
DeleteLovely photos of your roses and tea cup collection. We have several tea sets inherited from both sides of the family - including a full set of the gold cup and saucer you have. (We're English so these things were just normal crockery for our families - or at least they were used for special meals.)
ReplyDeleteI love the pretty duck egg blue... is it? in the last two photos.
It is so delightful that you have beautiful crockery reserved for special meals but even the day to day ones are pretty as well. I like having these special dishes as they make even the most simple meal look more elegant.
DeleteThe tea cup in the last two photos are quite similar in color to the real one - not sure what to call it, I thought it would be mint green color. :-)
Starting with those beautiful roses and then your teacups. Everything here is so lovely! I enjoyed it all. So glad you shared at "Tea In The Garden"!
ReplyDeleteThank you very much for letting me share and for visiting my blog Bernideen!
DeleteRoses and teacups equally beautiful. You have such a good collection of fine teacups.
ReplyDeleteWorth a Thousand Words
Thanks Hun :-) Yep, I have quite a number of tea cups, lol...

Very pretty roses and teacups. Anne Hathaway was the wife of William Shakespeare.
ReplyDeleteWaah? Okay, I admit this is a real comical ignorance on my part :-)
Deleteso pretty and delicate looking :) I can't start looking at tea cups in the thrift shops, would come home with things we have no space for :p
