Not sure how regular or religious I'd be at fulfilling this goal but I plan to do a "Hutch and Buffet" series that would catalog my collection of my tea and tea paraphernalia. Quite honestly, this is what I had in mind when I started my blog. Then I got obsessed with nail art, then with other different things....etc...etc... :-)
A while ago, a friend and her family encountered an unfortunate event that is happily now resolved. This event involved the loss of many of their household possessions. No one was hurt, that is the best part of it... The incident was reported promptly to the police and of course, the insurance company was contacted. Hmmm, about that, the insurance, I mean. We were all pleasantly surprised that my friend was a good keeper of receipts and invoices of purchases for their home, large or small. Needless to say, they did not have a problem claiming loss through their insurance company as they had the proper coverage and complete evidence of their loss. Impressive huh?
I hope it doesn't sound selfish, but does not events like this help us to reconsider our own situation and assess where we currently stand? Uhuh, we checked our home insurance to see if we had the proper coverage that suited our needs. Check! But in case of loss, how would we prove our claims if we did not have those receipts and invoices? Organized, me? Yes, I think so. Although not as organized as I wish I was. Not to despair... Did you know that you can do an inventory of your possessions by taking videos and photos around your home? File them in a safe place for that "just in case" that hopefully never happens. I mean I'm not saying that the insurance company would reimburse everything but hey, it might help with the process.
We don't have much, but I do have a cherished collection of tea cups and tea paraphernalia. I thought I would use my friend's account above as a valid excuse for taking pictures and posting them. {That would be a safe place to file it, right?} Let me start with this pretty, floral Royal Albert Tea Pot set. It is spring after all and the flowers are so uplifting.
A design that never goes out of time and style, in my opinion, this Old Country Roses set does put a cheer in my hutch and buffet. Indeed, it occupies the center stage. The bouquet of red and yellow flowers nestled on those lovely green leaves pop up in beauty against the white background that looks so clean and pure. And the gilt makes it look even more elegant.
Among my random collection of tea cups is a sole Old Country Rose tea cup and saucer set. {Shopping list reminder: One more set for a tea-for-two? *wink*} One night when I was feeling so down and sad, hubby brought a little tray of tea in bed, he chose this tea cup wisely. How quickly was I smiling again...
Do you have a favorite tea cup/set?
Do you also have a collection?
Please do tell in the comments below. If you have blogged about it too, please include the link in your comment and I'll come take a peek too :-)
Have a nice day ladies {and gentlemen}!
xoxo,
Maya

Thanks, Maya, for coming by to visit me at Delights of the Heart. I tried to find an email to respond, but couldn't find one. Yes, with our tea ceremony it is gung -fu style tea service. It looks like we like a lot of the same things, tea, travel, flowers, and even a car show.
