A Tree Planted by Streams of Water

Psalm 1:1-3 for Sunday Sketches
My niece and I had an assignment for our weekly Bible Study meetings.  How can we draw close to God?  One way is by daily reading and meditating on God's love letter to us, the Scriptures.  How can we talk about the Scriptures in a way that would benefit a little girl?  Since it was to be presented as a little skit/dialogue, we pretended that we were drawing just like we usually do on our regular baby sitting days...  good use of visual aids in teaching :-)

We read the Scriptures first, then based on what we read, I asked her to make a drawing.  The above drawing is her interpretation.

"Happy is the man who does not walk according to the advice of the wicked
And does not stand on the path of sinners
And does not sit in the seat of scoffers.
But his delight is in the law of Jehovah,
And he reads His law in an undertone day and night.
He will be like a tree planted by streams of water,
A tree that produces fruit in its season,
The foliage of which does not wither.
And everything he does will succeed."
Psalm 1:1-3

If we daily nourish ourselves with the water that flows from God's Words, the Bible, if we would meditate on it so as to apply it in our lives, we will become wise.  We will fill our reservoir of knowledge and strength, so that when we are faced with adversities, we have something to draw from that will enable us to act wisely.

Granted, reading and understanding the Bible can be difficult at times, it's size may be daunting.  But take courage, we have help.  For example, JW.org is a rich source of Bible based information that can help us.  By using this kind and generous provision, we can be like the healthy, luxurious tree planted by streams of water.

Sunflowers and Butterfly | Sunday Sketch

Sunflowers and Butterfly

I was busy painting my nails one day, my thoughts were quite preoccupied.  The nail polishes, thin brushes, sponge - the whole nine yards - were spread on the table.  Hubby was quietly watching a tv program.  Suddenly, a soft knock on the door gave away who was outside - my young friend from the upstairs apartment.  She's quite comfortable at our place, she often comes and stays for a while.  I thought she'd be too young for my nail polishes... or else that I don't want my polishes spilled all over... I decided, we should draw on paper instead.

Happy Imaginings

A wonderful cup of chai tea along with a sweet chocolate mouse cup for a mid-morning snack became even more fascinating when I ate and drank while staring at these artworks on the wall.  I find them really intriguing.  What were the artists' thoughts?  I wonder.  The choice of colors exudes happy emotions and pleasant imaginings.

Yellow for joy and blue for serenity.

Oceans and Sunsets

One day, when I was in grade school, I asked my lolo (grandfather) to design the cover of my book report for me.  He was busy working on something that day but without hesitation, he took my book report and began sketching.  He sketched a scene similar to what I did today (his was a lot better, of course).  I was almost disappointed at how light his hand was, scribbling, drawing lines, then putting a little bit of life to it using some colored pencils...  He did it as if carelessly, so relaxed... I thought he was just playing with my cover, not taking it seriously... I was right, he was just playing.  But I was wrong too, he was taking it seriously.  He's heart was in the sketch that he did it ever so cheerfully and excellently.  Finally, he used a marker to write down the book title and my name.  I got a lot of compliments for my work, my teacher even decided to keep it as an example for future students.  Until today, this scene is my favorite sketch and will always be memorable to me.

Funny how little things in our childhood could become one of our most treasured memories, eh?

Would you tell us something you fondly remember of when you were a child?
