The Pretty Little LadyBug | LadyBug Nails Inspirations | OMD2 Theme: Brights

LadyBug Nails

"Ladybugs all dressed in red,
Strolling through the flower bed.
If I were tiny just like you,
I'd creep among the flowers too."

Happy, happy weekend ladies!  We just had a hurricane in my part of Canada today, the wind is blowing harshly, making the leaves on the trees dance and wave.  The rain is falling profusely.  For some reason, I find this really calming. It's a little taste of my childhood, I think.  My little old city back in the Philippines experiences all year rains and storms, sometimes even up to two-week long monsoons.  As fond childhood memories came to me, I was inspired to draw this tiny pretty insect for an entry for a nail art challenge on "Brights".  Ah... I went out for a few minutes just to feel the wind... and take photos of my lady bug nails...

I can't resist putting some glitter on the tiny lady bug ;)  they are really cute to begin with, but I wanted sparkle... Some glitter and shine to add cheer on a calm stormy afternoon.

Procedures:
1.  Apply Base Coat, let dry.  This protect your natural nails from staining and also let you color polish adhere better to the nails.
2.  Paint all your nails with white polish. Let dry.
3.  Apply glitter polish of your choice on the thumb and little (5th finger).  Let dry and apply second coat.
4.  On the ring finger, I applied a coat of red polish.  Middle finger, yellow polish.  And finally, the index finger, green.  I only used one coat as the colors were already opaque. Let settle for a few minutes.
5. Then using a very thin brush, I drew the lady bug on my ring finger.  That will be my accent nail.  I started by painting an oval on the tips of my nails.  I did this since I already have a rounded end.  Then using a striper brush, I outline the wings of the lady bug as well as it's head and eyes with glitter.  Then I added two tiny rhinestones for it's eyes.  Using the same black polish for the head, I added some dots on the body.
6.  On the yellow nail, I used a thin brush to doddle a flower.  I colored in the flower with several shared of yellow including a golden textured polish.  Unfortunately, the hues are difficult to photograph.  But the shine and subtlety in person is quite pretty.  On the middle of the flower, I added some pink crushed shells.
7.  On the green nail, I doddled some leaves.  Using a thin brush, I made pointed lemon shapes.  I colored in the leaves with different shades of green and of course, some sparkly green glitter as well.
8.  Air dry for a few minutes then apply a generous amount of topcoat.  I say generous since a thick topcoat would prevent smudging the design.  Not too thick that it will be oozing out of your nails of course, lol... just enough ;)
9.  Allow nails to fully dry before doing the dishes, lol ;)

I hope that you enjoyed my sparkly Lady Bug nails today.  Would you try this design?  Let me know!  Please do comment below and leave me your thoughts.  I would really love to hear from you...

H
ave a great weekend everyone!!!

  4. Can I just say what a relief to uncover someone who actually
knows what they're talking about on the web. You actually
realize how to bring an issue to light and make
it important. A lot more people really need to read this and understand this side of your story.
It's surprising you're not more popular given that
    you certainly have the gift.
