Some Wedding Reflections | Tea Time

Over the weekend, hubby and I attended a beautiful wedding.  Those invited were few, so I was over the moon privileged to have been a part of it.  The occasion felt very intimate and romantic.  Upon arrival at the hall, the bride and groom were at the door greeting and welcoming visitors.  It was something new.  At first I felt like, "Oh dear bride, why are you here?  Rest in a room somewhere..."  I was meditating on typical weddings were the guests and the groom waits with much anticipation for the arrival of the bride and everyone awed by her beauty and gown. Then she said: "I feel very nervous.  This way, I get to visit with my guests already and get comfortable.  Once I walk down the aisle, I won't have that awkward feeling anymore.  They are my friends!"  Ah, I never thought of that before... I guess if there is one do-over about my own wedding, this would be it {{ All the guests were inside the hall, they were early.  I arrived with my entourage just in time, I haven't seen my friends and family yet.  When I entered the hall, there they were, all staring at me.  Tears... Yes, I was nervous and excited at the same time.  Such loving but expectant eyes, I couldn't help it.... Tears...}} For my friend though, she and her groom were the first to arrive at the hall.  By the time the wedding started, they know each and every single one in the audience.

Crochet pattern-writing is a craft I'd really like to be better with.  That involves designing of course, this I have to work on. *wink*  Surely, there are so much more to learn.  Daily, I find new stitches, new techniques.... and the design choices are endless.  Truly, there are many, many talented artist out there. One day, I would like to be included in their ranks. Hoping, ever hoping, that one day, my blog will be as good as theirs. 

That involves posting USEFUL material, right?  Understanding that for a crochet pattern to be useful, I should, not only be able to convey the design in photos, but also give out clear instructions that can easily be followed by others.  In the hopes to fulfill this, I have been working on patterns from books, magazines and from fellow bloggers, studying how they make their patterns as I translate their written ideas into tangible results.

I want to thank you all for the warm reception you have given my Star Stitch Hoodie Scarf. Heartwarming it is indeed to know that somewhere out there are some supportive readers who take the time to share my post too. For that, I am very grateful. I look forward to seeing your projects as well and getting your feedback on the pattern.

I know that my writing skills still need some {uhm, I mean many} work and improvement.  There are many things yet to learn and practice.  Craftsy offers a class on improving crochet techniques.  I might enroll on that one to help me hone my skills even better.  Crochet pattern writing is the first craft I can (seemingly) see a future in.  The future where I may {maybe} bridge the gap between work and play - Then one does not feel that its work any more because she is doing something she loves.  That would be awesome, right? Wouldn't it be great to make a good design that will be widely accepted and that fellow crafters would actually sacrifice their hard-earned money to buy and make?  Hoping and ever hoping some more that one day I would be that kind of designer who would introduce to the world a great design and a crochet pattern that others could actually follow.  How about you?

Here are some of the patterns that I am able to publish since I started crocheting in October last year.  I present to you my Pink Bow Hair Clip, an excellent gift for your little girls or tweens.  The Flower Stitch Infinity Scarf is a real head turner.  I made a yellow one and a red one for myself and the compliments I receive for these are quite awesome.  The yellow one especially, everytime I wear, it seems new to my friends.  It's probably because of the cheerfulness and freshness of the yellow color.  A great relief from the dreary, cold winter we've been having.

For your little ones,here's cute baby blankie that you can attach to another cute amigurumi toy.  This is actually the first crochet written pattern I have ever made.  It's fun to make it in different colors.
